Catalytic convertor

Hi,
My ibiza 1.2 (2002) engine light keeps coming on every 100 miles or so and the fault code given is: 16804 Catalyst system: bank 1: efficiency below threshold - Im not sure if there is any way to test if the cat is at fault or if its one of the sensors, but has anyone tried using anything like 'cataclean' or is something like that going to do more damage than good?
Any help would be much appreciated.

That fault usaully means your lambda probe before cat hads gone kapoot! I would try a lambda probe before cat and see if that clears fault.

Maybe you should add your post to some others already open (sorry if there are none on this site), as this problem is appearing again and again with these 1.2 engines. If you use "search" and don't turn up anything on this forum, then try/look on www.briskoda.net and www.uk-polos.net as there is a lot of it about - but maybe no final answers have been returned yet.
