Hi all! :)
New on here but been lurking for a while, Does anyone know if its possible to remove the cat from a mk3 ibiza 20vt exhaust and get the engine to run ok?
I've heard there are 2 lambda probes,1 before and 1 after the cat & it will keep going into limp mode if its removed

I won't have any legal or MOT issues as its going in a mk2 golf

On another note does anyone know the 5th gear ratio on a mk3 20vt?
ie 21mph / 1000rpm

Thanks in advance, this is a great site :)

Thanks for your replys guy's :)
That helps alot!
i have to sort out all the fitting and plumbing issues 1st,then try to find out why it had a dump valve fitted between the IC & throttle/b (i thought that put it into limp mode also) then hopefully find out if the previous owner chipped/remapped it? before i can get into turbo upgrades etc...
So expect a few more info begging posts from me in the future ;-)
But thanks again for your input.

5th gear ratio according to gps and rev counter is 24mph/1000rpm.
The car is quite long geared, it does a gps verified 67 mph in second and 97 mph in third.

Those figures are for a 2000 Model Ibiza Cupra 1.8 20VT.

wow! :-o thanks for that Peter! i wasn't expecting it to be geared that high tbh!
But its another thing i'll take into consideration etc..

Yes the DV has been relocated ( and promptly nicked in the breakers ) not sure what to replace it with yet and where ( mabe back to std location) but its got to be sorted,i'll try to take some pics and post them up if its not too hard to do!

Legally I just "assumed" they would class the car as a 1990 golf in an MOT but again its another thing to confirm before i start it all so i don't have to backtrack to "fix" things

Thanks for your reply's guy's :)
