So after a whole week of trouble free driving.... My 01 Leon 1.6 has decided it doesn't want to start using the key but it can be bump started....

It was weird, just about to go on a trip to Glasgow, got to a petrol station just outside Dundee, filled it up with petrol, got back in, turned the key.... Nothing....

Bumped it, fine, turned it of, tried it again with the key. Worked. It has worked a couple times since but generally it has to be bumped.....

This is a little annoying! When you turn the key nothing happens but the lights on the dash dim and they usualy do when its starting.

2 weeks ago i was driving into Aberdeen the the EPC light came on and the car went slow as anything, put it into the Skoda garage, 405 pounds later, a new water pump, timing kit, coil pack and barometric pressure sensor or something it was running perfect again... I dont think this is related but im not a mechanic.

Anybody have any ideas? Im clueless, no Seat garages in Dundee which probabally isnt a bad thing, yet to find a Seat garage with customer service so ill be putting it into the VW or Skoda garage to get them to have a look if its not a know problem. Ive had a search but found nothing that matches this problem.

Im now in Glasgow and have to get it home tommorow, luckily once it starts its fine, no other problems but my friend Tom is getting a bit bored of pushing the damn thing...

Any info or help very gratefully appreciated.

Also, how evil is Glasgow to drive in, so glad when i get onto some normal road

I'd check the battery, if it's the original one then it's 5 years old so could be on its way out. Check the earth lead to the battery, it may have been disconnected by the garage and not put back on properly.

yeh get the battery checked as well as the alternator, that could prevent the battery from charging
