Car Wont Always Start Up

Heya,

I have a seat ibiza 1.4 16v 1400cc "chill", is an FE52 plate ( Nov 2002 ) .

I have occasional trouble getting the car started, it happens mainly when ive used the car and then go back to it, it wont start up again.

I was advised to have the coil pencils changed when the ECU showed a mis-fire fault on cylinder one.
I changed the coil pencil and the car worked perfectly for a couple of days, the problem seems to be slowly coming back, do I need to change the spark plugs too would this help with it starting?

I have also read about possible tempreture sensors that could be the problem, could somebody help with where to find them so I can clean them up?

When the car is running the engine seems to pull fine, and sounds smooth

Does any body have any recommendations as to what to try?

Thankyou to all.

the starting trouble does sound like a temp sensor which slould be cheep and easy, re the coil I would check the low tension wireing as that could be faulty if only one coil is playing up, you really need someone with vagcom where are you located

Hello ,

When this was put on vagcom, it sead oil & fuel cylinder one, I have not had it reset since I have replaced the coil pack. But the ESP light and engine managment light keep coming on,

Then tension wireing is that, the wires going into the individual packs?

** Thank you by the way

You need the stored fault codes read again, noted down, then cleared - then see why these lights are coming back on. I'd hope that the car has had a service history and that the plugs have been already been replaced and the correct ones fitted. There just "might" be a s/w issue or upgrade required - just an outside chance!
