I have a 1999 seat ibiza cupra sport - with the air locking central system - it has started randomly opening and locking itself? you can lock it up on a night come back in the morning and its open, it dont have a clue what could be wrong?

Any idea's or anyone had this problem....

It sometimes has locking / unlocking fits when your just driving along....

At the moment the central has stopped altogeather but after a couple of days it started to work and has now stopped again??

Not what you need when your traveling and leaving your car out the back of strange B +B's.

:)

make sure all the doors and catches are secure and working properly

even if the look fine - inside it may be broken and if the system thinks a door is open it will unlock it again automatically

if you press and hold the lock button it activates the alarm by the way

id guess at one of the door barrels is buggered or the boot catch assy - wierd one

I dont use the fob - i always lock with the key and alarm it at the same time by holding the key to the most left position for a second until the red LED lights up, so i need to get the door pannels off to look at the locks? is there a switch or something behind that activates the central locking?

Cheers

mate had an old cavalier which did this, particuliarly in the rain.... think it was water leaking and shorting out the system.

The system is subtly different from a mk2 Golf actually - (factory) c/l on a mk2 Golf operates from the drivers door only. Which gives me a thought - does it behave the same regardless of whether you lock from the drivers door or passenger door?

Yep it does the same from either door!!, but i have stopped it from opening anyway - i just unplugged the vacum pump thats in the rear quarter - just means i have to lean over to unlock the passenger door - when i have some spare cash i will get it repaired!! my heli takes up alll my spare cash!! lol
