Interesting.....

Just did a DVLA lookup on the Ibiza I've just bought, to confirm there wasn't any tax on it.

Slightly suprised the co2 is shown as 181g/KM. (2002 130 TDI Sport).

I know its an old engine design, but that seems really high. Especially as there are reviews (of a 2002 130 TDI Sport ( http://www.carkeys.co.uk/road_test/seat/319.asp )) showing it as 138g/KM which is certainly more as I expected.

I'm guessing its not just that my car has been registered incorrectly, they are just a poor old engine? :(

Its also according to DVLA a 1900cc engine, (compared to a Passat TDI 130 at 1896cc and 154g/KM)

What am I missing?

As far as I was aware, all Ibiza PD130 (ASZ Engine) are 138 g/km which is Band C.

Currently should be £63.25 for six months or £115 for a year.

Which worries me somewhat.

Mine's showing as £165.00 for a year.

Just checked another 2, 52 plate 130 TDI Sports, both showing as 138g/KM, 1896cc and £115. One was October 2002 and one Jan 2003, so either side of mine.

The 1900cc thing is odd too.

Hm.....

Yeah I think there has been a bit of a mix up somewhere along the lines.

Check your engine code, though being a PD130 I'm 99.9% sure it'll be ASZ then I don't see why your tax should be any more than mines or any other PD130 Ibiza.

Just did a quick HPI check, again came back as a 1900cc, engine number of 84457 (which I'm sure is way too short, but thats what it said).

Nothing recorded, on Police, HPI, etc etc

I'll pick it up first (Wednesday) and see what all its documents say, also check any previous tax discs if they are with it.

Be interesting if I could claim back the overpaid tax :)

Yes the CO2 output is definitely wrong.

Wouldn't worry about the engine size, it's quite common to round to the nearest 1000cc.
It might actually be 1896cc but the most people call it a 1.9 or 1900cc.

Except that all other Passat, Golf, Ibiza 130's I've checked have been 1896cc according to DVLA, so it needs fixing.

Hopefully its just a slip of a finger at some point and nothing untoward.....

If it's an '02 car, it's a very early Mk4 so it might be that whoever registered the car wasn't very familiar with their specs.

Just spoken with DVLA who were very helpful.

Told me to highlight the errors on the registration document, provide proof from the manufacturer of the correct info, post it to them and they'll get the changes made.

Just need to hope one of the dealers in the dealer forum will do the required for me :)
