I'll give you the low down guys, after work today started my car, everrything was fine, i pulled out and as i started to move it just stalled, i never noticed until i tried to put the foot down a tiny bit more in the car park nothing! thought dam stalled it! Went to start it, it tried to turn over and nothing! Tried it a few times more same thing. Popped the bonnet and some work colleagues came out to help, checked the oil, and it was on the bottom of the ball after the line!. THey said i shud go up to the garage in work and get some oil in it! The car managed to turn over just! And i drove veeeery slowly 100 yards to the garage. The only oil they could give me was 5W 30 full synthetic, in the leon it's PD oil. I put in about a litre and a half in it upto the half line. Turned her over and no problem!!!!! Ran her back home 40 miles( Tuesday i go back home from work instead of staying in my rented accomodation near work) And car was fine kept it very low revs and never went over 70. Took her home, and waited 30 secs. Turrned her on and off a few times and no problem!
But i need to know as im due back in work tomorow. SHould i run the car with this oil,( which i think no lol!) or should i go to halfords and get oil for her and just do her 1st service 1000 miles early? If so what exact oil is best to use, i think after this it'll be oil change every 5k!!!! The weird thing is the engine oil warning light never came on! I do check the oil but stupidly i have only been doing it after driving the car when still hot!
I thought OHHHHH SH** when it happened!

Please guys any help would be well appreciated THANKS!!!!!!!!

dont think the car should stall with no oil, nothing to do with DPF delete?

also wouldnt drive too far on that oil, get the proper stuff in asap

Very similar thing happened to me, just about to pull out on a roundabout and the car felt like it withdrew a bit, gave it some more and just stalled. So halfway on the roundabout, tried to restart while coasting as you do, and nothing. Managed to push it to safety and tried numerous times to no avail.

Turns out it was a fuel pump issue...(140TDi btw)

Owwwww, not so hot! Well the thing is as soon as the oil was in it sounded fine, but before it when turning over it was rreally rough to start! What did you have to do with the fuel pump? Get it replaced? Cheers

The oil light on the dash is for low oil pressure, not low oil level. Even with low oil level you shoild get the correct pressure. A large oil leak or a missing oil filler cap would be the sort of thing to make the low oil pressure light come on.

With the sort of power you have the heat from the turbo will be quite high so your oil level could drop quite quick if not checked often.

I personally don't think the low oil level was causing the poor starting, more like a battery problem or a fuel problem I reckon.

suppose it could be oil as low oil pressure can make a car not start. Not sure on these engines though...

but as Nath says it is more likley fueling issue
