i have changed the engine on my cupra as it was easier than takin the old 1 out but now i have done this it will start and run for 2secs then cut out i have removed the charcoal filter and secondry air pump and the car is fitted with a scorpion alarm it seems as though the imobiliser is kickin in but any other ideas why would be helpfull and the car has the same ecu before the engine swap.

You probably need to code/recode the ecu to the car with vag com. Theres a guide in the swapping ecus thread in the vag com or tech section. Just search for it.

the ecu is the same 1 that was in there b4 i swapped the engine would i need 2 re-code it? or could it be the alarm that was fitted to the car?

if the ECU & clocks haven't changed, I'd say it'll be a missed connection

aftermarket alarms are fickle, but then if you've not touched that why would it fail
