Car Insurance

Hi there

Searched but didn't find other topics in relation to this - I was just wondering if the forum here offers any discount for members from any car insurance companies?

I've picked up my new Arosa earlier tonight, got 7 days insurance from the garage I've bought it from and I'm on line searching for other quotes. My current insurance company is a joke so I'm looking to change.

I'm getting quotes ranging from £118.00 to £599.00 :-o
For a little 1.0 S Arosa, insurance group 2 if I'm not mistaken?

Who are you guys insured with? And do you feel you're getting value for money from them?

//Edit - just found the insurance section of the forum

My above questions still stand though

How old are you, how long have you been driving and what NCB do you have?

£118 sounds like a very good deal! With that price I would guess you're over 25, with several years NCB and experience.

I paid £450 for mine - but I'm only 21, I've got 3 years NCB, and the car is modified which will always push the price up.

Hi there

Yeah I admit I'm an old sod - lets just say I'm errrrr considerably older than you

I suppose £118.00 is pretty good considering my circumstances. I have quite a few years NCB and the advanced driving certificate which also helps lower my premium ;)

Slightly off topic, is that an MS Designs spoiler on your motor? Looks good to me :)

It is - I got it cheap second hand though, I could never afford it new (£160 for an unpainted spoiler!? :-o)

I can't wait for insurance that cheap - I'm hoping if I keep up the good driving and build up my NCB, it'll come down somewhere under £200 when I turn 25! Can't afford to keep paying this much each year

Hi there

Yours should come down each year as long as you dont make any claims and shop around come renewal time ;)

I know where you're coming from though, If I remember rightly I was paying in the £600.00 region for my imported Pulsar - think my MR2 was quite a bit cheaper again. Meh, I was young once too ya know

The quotes I've had so far for the Arosa aren't too bad i suppose, my thread was purely to judge what others people opinions were on their insurance companies and to try and gauge if there was any discounts available to forum/club members?

I don't know if we have any discounts as such, but if you're looking for a nice friendly company then try Brentacre - they're a small brokers and I was always able to have a good natter with them whenever I rang up :)

Otherwise, I used Direct Line when i was learning and they were very efficient when I had an accident, provided me with a courtesy car in no time (even though I was only 17 at the time) and had the Arosa back in a couple of weeks with no fuss.

Don't worry - I always shop around! Usually set aside an hour or so to ring round the usual suspects and compare prices ;) Don't understand how anyone can just accept the renewal!

Hi there

Got my insurance sorted out earlier on today - went with Swift Cover who offered me fully comp with a £100.00 excess at £118.00 per annum.

Called my original insurers (Swinton) who quoted me an additional £31.00 for the change of vehicle then £28.60 per month :-o

Is it any wonder so many people decide **** it, I'm not going to bother with any insurance when so many companies are blatently out to rape you financially come renewal or change of vehicle time [:@]

The bloke actually seemed quite surprised even after stating there was a £45.00 cancellation fee when I said "I'm not paying that - cancel it!"

His road to recovery was shot down in flames when he comments "you'll loose this years NCB" my reply was "I have over 18 years of NCB and each insurance company only recognises a maximum of 9 years - this wont effect me in any way"

Moral of the story Dont go with Swinton !

// Edit - pics will be up soon of my ickle Arosa, unfortunatley I've been working and we've not had the weather to take any decent pics yet :(
