Car cutting out

OK, this has happened twice to me in the past (a couple of years back, and again about 6 months later) but I've always just put it down to a glitch... but it happened twice this morning so a bit worried!

Coming up to a roundabout/junction, go to drop down a gear (ie, from 4th to 3rd) and then suddenly the car cuts out! No judder or anything, just the engine stops, normal dash lights on for 2nd stage ignition. Both times just turned the ignition over (whilst still moving) and it starts up straight away no problems and carry on fine.
Not had chance to vagcom it but there are no warning lights on. Quite worrying because if you don't notice it's cut out then you go to hit the throttle mid roundabout and there's nothing there! Plus the brakes are obviously limited without the engine running.

Anyone any ideas what this might be!? It's not me stalling it by the way!

Ha, I'd be impressed if I did manage to stall it going 30mph in 4th/3rd!

I've had the same thing happen to me over the past 2-3 weeks.

As you say exactly the same thing go to change down and don't realise it's cut out until I go to accelerate, no other problems or symptoms but can be quite dangerous.

If you do Vagcom your motor and you find anything could you let me know please mate

Thanks for the info mate,

I think mine may be linked to the DPF Regen as it cut out again last night, before it cut out I noticed that the revs were around 1k & it was running quite lumpy ish prior to that.

I was chatting to my brother and he was saying it could well have been to do with the regen and to just keep an eye on it just to see how the car is running prior to it cutting out.

Even so, i still don't understand why it should cut out while doing the regen or afterwards.

Bringing up an old thread from the past, but this happened to me twice in the pass 2 weeks.

Same thing, come up to a roundabout went from 3rd to 2nd and went to pull away at slow speed and got nothing, changed into 1st (was rolling) and seemed to get it started again. Then this morning came to a stop at some lights, went to pull away and again nothing, the only lights on the dash was the battery light, like stage 2 ignition. Turned the key and it was fine.

Also to add to this got a new clutch 6 months ago, but recently when i have come to a stop the revs seem to drop to almost 0 then up to 1.25k then back to rest around .750k not sure if this is related.

The car is a 2008 cupra k1

My Ibiza Cupar 20v turbo started cutting out I scanned it, and came up with a fault on the intercooler sensor when I checked it the wires to the sensor had broke. Some new wires and a plug later all sorted

I had this on my previous leon fr it cut out every day until i removed the dpf had it remapped and it never did it again

Mine did it for 1st time in a year yesterday.

It's DPF related, mine had been trying to do a regen before.

I think on the PD170 it's DPF related, not sure on the K1 though.
