Car Audio Question

Situation: I have 1 Sub, 2 amps and a pair of 6x9's in my car. I want to be able to easily take out the Sub and both amps and then re connect the 6x9s so the standard amp from the head unit is being used.

Right now I am using two sets of fast plugs to make it easy to take out the 2 amps, but (due to lack of funds, imagination and technical knowledge of wiring and car audio) I do not know the best (Safest, Easiest and Neat) way of connecting the 6x9's back up to the original head unit.

I am currently using these big fat metal things which clip together, allowing me to either connect the 6x9's straight from the two sets of speaker cables going to the Head unit, or allowing me to connec those cables to the amps, and then from one amp to the 6x9's..

Sorry if this confuses you..I will try explain things better if there is any problem...

Im wondering is anyone knows of any small, durable clip like plugs which allow you to swap around audio connections easily.. (Im thinking RCA's as theyre smaller but... Im not sure? Not great with this kinda stuff...)

Thanks!!:rolleyes::D

Are you using the high level input on the amps or are you using convertors?

If just using the high level inputs, then just get some wire with the right connectors on and connect the amp input with the 6x9 wires

Hi there,

currently everything works fine with regards to sound output/connectivity..

its not so much a problem because all I want to do is find and use a different type of connectors which can be used with the speaker cable...

I need different, smaller male/female connectors because the ones im using now are massive, I cant hide them..

I know you have no problems with the signal, but how are you getting a signal to the amps? With phonos (using a convertor) or using the high input sockets (straight from the headunit)?

And using the high inputs on your amps?

If so, just pick a connector of your choice, to join the input wires for you amp to the ouput wires (obv without the amp inbetween!)

What kind of connectors do you suggest? Im dont really know what there is - wouldn't know what to type in to google or whatever to search...

Maybe using banana plugs would be a better solution?? Im not sure..

Are there any small, compact connectors which allow for a higher gauge of speaker wire - which requires an allen key??

Sorry i'm not too good with this kind of thing..Thanks in advance

I shall give it a talk with my mate, I am thinking 1/4" male/female jacks could also do the job..

The XLR plugs currently are just too big..

I would post pictures but i dunno whether you can only do it through other web pages, or can you call an url on your computors directory?

Its the double din air con all connected together unit unfortuanetly.. and I dont have the bottle to start hacking away at circuits/and cutting holes everywhere... I dont want another H/u in the glovebox, nor below the steering wheel... and i dont see many other ways of doing it :(
