hi all, i had a leon cupra and i couldnt lock the boot (would open even though i had 'locked' the car on the fob) have now sold the car to my dad, ive bought another mk1 cupra and the chap who had it has written a note saying the same thing about his car, but he explains that if you turn the key to the left in the boot lock you can lock the boot!

so went round to my dads and tried it on my old car, basically the key will only turn to the right ie to open the damn thing and it wont lock on the key! please can anyone help me out on this small prob? any help is much appreciated, thank you.

It is more than likely the remote locking mechanism, it is a small motor and a plastic worm gear, on mine the worm gear is stripped, I am trying to find a part number for it, you can always lock the boot with the key.

The solinoid is stuck I had excatly the same problem with mine when I bought it.

Either remove the solinoid and rebuild it or replace it with a new one :)

They sometimes just get stuck, if you remove the solonoid you can open it up and usually get them going again......worth a try before buying a new one :)
