As the title says really, I have been told that the arb on gti's is part of the rear axle, so you cant put one on a non gti. Is this true? Has anyone managed to put one on a non gti axle, If so how and what bits do I need. Cheers, Jon

its welded in from memory.
you can fit an aftermarket one from the likes of neupseed though.that is bolted to the outside of the rear beam, and does help handling alot.
you may not have a front either, which can be fitted from a gti/cupra iirc

yes you can - the gti has one built into the rear axle and when people say they fit an arb, what they mean is they fit a second arb strapped to the axle - you could do this just as easy as on a GTI - get a 28mm one as you have none to start with, gti's usually add a 25mm one to the one thats already there

Thanks for the help, I have a golf G60 one to go onto the front, so Im looking for an aftermarket rear then? Where does this attach to the chassis? Is it just a Mk2 golf one that goes on? Cheers.

mk2 golf one fits ,with a couple of drop links, neuspeed is the daddy, from awesome.2 sizes to choose from and 3 settings on each one.so you can set it up to your taste.
rear is a doddle to fit(if your doing it on your own,a couple of cable ties to hold it up is a good idea)

What is the cheapest way of putting a rear arb on, I have been looking at some sites and they all seem to be about £200, which is a lot of money to spend on a car which isn't worth all that much. Also, at the end of the day its still only a 1.4.

thats what they cost unless you can find one 2nd hand - H+R do them also but these are same spec and same price
