Some b'stard has pranged the rear bumper of my girlfriend's Ibiza while it was parked on the drive overnight. [:@]

Can it be repaired or will it need a new bumper?

If it does need a new bumper how much will it cost?

You might be lucky, it doesn't look like its cracked the bumper, just bent it!

Might knock out but screws/holes might need replacing?

Probably easier to take the bumper off first. As Ad Lav says, it doesn't look cracked or the paintwork damaged. It might just push out from the back.

If it was parked in the drive looks like that was done on purpose. Why can't people leave other people's property alone!:censored:

you could make it look better by undoing the screws along the inside edge and pull away from braket them push the dent out it wont look great unless you are exstreamly lucky!!!!!

i think you are wrong on it being hit by a car i think its a little :w4nk: has booted it!

Try warming it up with a hairdryer this should help softn the plastic which will try to 'pop' back to its original moulded shape. It should work but be careful not to let the plastic get too hot

Yeh, you're probably right there. The angle's wrong for it to be another vehicle.

It worked on my Mitsubihi rear bumber bumper after I reversed into a lamp post. DOH! Warm it right up & then push it from the back.
It was a metalic painted moulding & you couldn't notice it at all, no cracks, nothing, worth a try before spending money on it!

I could get technical about polymer strings in injection moulded plastics and the memory that they carry but that would be getting geeky, so I wont!

I don't think there's any way a dent that deep could be done with a boot.

The top suspect is the next door neighboor with his camper van but without proof she's knackered. :(

Are you on speaking terms with your neighbour? Would have thought if they'd driven into your gf's car they would have owned up. It's a big enough dent to know when you've hit something, I would have said.

As has been said, a bit of heat, and a bit of fettling might just work. Are the mounts themselves OK?

Can't beat a bit of fettling! I myself enjoy a good bit of flange buffing but that's another forum haha ;o)
The heat thing will work, I have did it on my Arosa when a lamp post jumped out behind me when I was reversing!

I have seen a similar dent in a plastic bumper repaired with a heat gun.
It was at a hire place where I was picking up a transit.

Woman had just returned the car and had dented the rear bumper. Bloke in the office basically said it would cost her about £300 or so for the repair, new bumper required and she should receive an invoice in a week or so. When i went out to get in the Transit there was someone with a heat gun gently warming the area moving the gun quickly over hte general area. The dent popped out of it's own accord although I understand that sometimes they might need some encouragement (a shove from behind).

The person doing this looked quite experienced at it, and i assumed it is a regular thing to charge people for these dents and then they repair it themselves and make some money out of it.

park it in strong sunlight, would have the same effect as a heat gun on a hot day. Alternatively, remove bumpe apply some heat then Apply pressure to both front and back but slightly more on the rear. That way less chance of a fst rebound and cracking the paint. You may be surpirsed. One of he best bumpers for this are the Ford Mondeo's
