Not sure if you've got the same law over there but in the UK this is illegal, I'd keep an eye open for plod if you try this. Would be very embarrassing to end up with a motoring conviction while not even actually in the car at the time...

EDIT - actually, won't the alarm go off if you do this?

There was a thread on this recently, well a couple of threads, but it turns out that it's illegal to leave a vehicle unattended with the engine running, regardless of whether it's on a public road or not. May not apply over there, you in the Republic?

@allh2k, I thought the manual said if the engine is started with the alarm armed (which it would be if the car was locked) the the alarm would go off - maybe different on my Cupra R, I know there are some differences between the alarm on the LCR and the other models.

Milton keynes!
are you guys for real? illegal? yeah its true but so is not carrying your insurance details, photocard and v5
if your out in the sticks mate even more reason to not care, i know i dont! every day last winter the car was running for 15 minutes while i was finishing my cup of tea not once did i get a knock on the door from the police? or a wanted bounty on my head, if people was that bothered about it then turbotimers would of been outlawed?

Yes you can I did it last winter with mine, leave it running with the spare key in and lock with you remote key from the drivers door handle, wont lock with the remote button.

I live in a very quiet location and could esily get away with not locking it.
