Can-Bus

I am changing my headunit as i want to wire up a sub n have no pre outs but was wondering if i need can bus leads, I have a DAB FormulaSport i have a blaupunkt nashville HU and dnt wnt to lose my steering whee controls.

When I had the HU out tother day I seem to memba seeing a black box is this a can bus as effectively the nashville is an aftermarket HU or will I still need new ones as getting a different HU!?

I'm no ICE expert but Can-Bus has nothing to do with the sound system in your car. If your car is a Mk4 ibiza it does not have a can-bus system anyway.

I reckon the black box is an ariel amplifier.

If you are getting a new HU you may need an adapter but these are very easy to buy from an ICE shop or even Halfords. These adapters sometimes need the red and yellow wires swapped to keep the HU memory working when you turn the ignition off.

Also with an aftermarket HU you very often need an aerial amplifier but maybe the black box you have seen can be used.

If I were you I wouldnt bother buying a new headunit for the sake of running a sub. Ive got a nashville and have bought the blaupunkt pre amp cable which lets me run an amp and sub.

Mine was £10 delivered on ebay and would save you the hassle and cost of buying a new headunit.

Right, i thought there was one but I wasnt too sure tbh. I asked at halfords but the knew nothing as usual, i wasnt sure if this pre amp cable wud affect the sound quality of the sub? Have you got the link or ebayer to who u got this off?
