Can anyone recommend a garage in the Kingston area?

Ok, so i have to get my track rods and air flow meter replaced.... i live in Kingston so i went to the Seat dealer in Hampton Court first but they quoted me £260 to do the track rods and £130 for the air flow meter (which seems more than a little steep to me!!) also, they cant book me in for 3 to 4 weeks and if i keep driving on my new tyres with the car like it is i will be setting myself up for two new front tyres as well. So, if anyone can recommend me ANY garage in the Kingston area that could possibly do this for me it would be appreciated.

Cheers

I live in Surbiton too ... havent seen you around though. I drive a blue 2001 Ibiza Cupra.... yeah we really need to come up with somewhere good around here to get work done, Hampton Court does good work if you have the money ... i dont!

i meant to say in the last post ... i got my MOT done at Hampton Court last time, they arent too bad (£45) and chucked in a few minor things for free (new wiper blades and a bulb) so they would be worth a try if all else fails.

Hey! thanks for the offer, that would be cool ... I'm in Epsom quite alot anyway cos my girlfriend goes to art college there and i work just down the road in Ewell. It would be cool if you would be willing to fit the MAF for me, not only cos it would save me alot of money in labour but also cos i might actually learn something! If you are definitely willing to do it then i will see if i can get the track rods sorted out and then give you a shout ....?

I should have said .... i dont have any lights on on my dash by the way ... should i? Basically the garage said that they *think* the MAF is the problem, when you rev over about 3,000 rpm it kind of splutters a little and feels like its holding back... it does get a bit better once its warmed up but not perfect.

Yeah no worries mate. I live close to the college. Less than 5 mins from Ewell ;)
Changed mine last month. Much better now. Though it may be a coil pack issue.
Can run Vagcom on it and see what it says

Yep, give me a shout.

M0rk, when i took my car in to the garage i had an inspection service done which *i was told* includes a full electrical test (which i presume includes diagnostics?) but i just realised i didnt get a copy of the form that shows what they did .... so am i right in thinking that a service inspection should have meant they would pick up on a problem with the coil pack?

CupraPower ... were you having the same problem as me until you changed your MAF??

Similar, though i have vagcom (diagnostics) so i knew what the problem was. Be best to run vagcom on your car and see what it says.

That could well have been me, i have small dents in the wheel arches on both sides at the moment ... from where Kwik Fit (i know ... i shouldnt have gone there, but i was desparate!) changed my tyres, basically some bloke dented both wheel arches with his fat arse by lifting the car cos they claim it was too low for them to fit their trolley jack under!!!

London ibiza cupra owner here....live in tooting but work in walton so I'm often around those parts...

as far a decent garages near us....there is Wheel Base (or Mega 4) in Hersham, who are a vag specialist. I've not had any work done there, but they did me a revo trial on a leon cupra once. They seem okay.

The only other local place i know is propably Tuning Werkes in Croydon, VW and VAG specialists. The owner Ruben is a friendly guy and seems keen to help.

Agreed. Simon and co at Wheel Base are great company, very helpful. As is Rueben, top bloke, will chat about Vag cars all day long!
