I had the cambelt changed on my car 3 days ago. Got it back and drove it to work yesterday. When the car is at standstill, there is a belt whirring noise. When the engine is revved, the whirr increases in pitch and it gets drowned by the noise of the engine.

This cannot be right. Like fan belts can be lose, can the same apply to cam belts and is it safe to drive the car??

Going back to VW for them to have a listen.

If its a squealing noise then I suspect its at the wrong tension.

I had mine replaced on my old cordy, squealed like mad, they then worked out that the tensioner had gone. I had it in the garrage 3 times before they found the problem.

Wouldnt recommend driving if it is this as the belt could go.
