Buzzing Brake Disc Sheild

I recently had the front shocks and rear discs/pads replaced on my 17 Leon, and am now getting a intermittent buzzing at low speed around 15mph under the car.

It's a hollow metallic resonant sound, I have taken it back to my VW specialist who had a 30min look + test drive. I have emptied the car, checked for loose items, moved front and back seats and made sure that the spare wheel is tight.

They have said it's coming from the front left and checked over their work for anything obvious and found nothing. They suggest booking it in for more time to be spent locating the noise.

Reading on various sites many people have mentioned that this type of noise may be a loose or vibrating brake disc shield, I am going to see if it's loose and if not try and bend it away from the disc slightly to see if this has any affect.

Has anyone else had the problem?

Hi, wife has reported a noise and a front shield is loose, is this an easy fix? Ie bolts accessible, going out later and don’t want to start a job that might be more complex than it should, plus it’s fecking freezing out despite the sun.

Checked for a drawing and it seems a disc and calliper off job, that’ll be for another day then. Agree anyone?

Wheel off
Caliper off
Disc off
Torque screws hold the backing plate to the hub. Either tighten or replace the backing plate in it's entirety. They corrode as they are dis-similar metals.

About £20 each

Job done today, sun was out and wind slight, shield rusted around locatng screw so washer applied and refitted, cleaned up all parts whilst apart, I'll probably replace these when fitting new pads in the future or maybe remove and bin them, it'll probaly depend on availability at the time.
