I seam to have a bush squeek from the passenger side of our 2004 Ibiza 1.4SX 5door anyone know of common problems that may cause this?

It does sound abit like old austin metros use to get with the antiroll bar bushes.

Any weak spots and things that maybe the cause i should check first.

It does not squeak when you push the corners up and down so guessing its either antiroll bar/drop links, or maybe bottom arms or engine mounts.

(I did try a search and am non the wiser)

Thanks for any ideas were to start looking.

With the car parked on level ground, front wheels centred, handbrake on and out of gear - grab each front wheel in turn and try to move it fore and aft - you might just hear some squeeking and if you do it will probably be the TCA rear voided bush that is becoming u/s. Best plan if that is your problem, is to get these voided bushes replaced with solid bushes as fitted to Ibiza Cupras.

Is this squeeking at its best when you cross speed bumps slowly?

Will try this in the morning, thanks.
Its when you move onto uneven ground or down a curb (not many speed bumps round here) but i guess it would on them too.

if you cant resolve it, it might be worth getting some cheap cupra bushes as the standard rubbery ones arnt that good

I had this problem.....turned out it was from all the salt and crap on the roads drying out the bushes .....ended up getting new ones on warranty but a good clean and spraying off any salt etc did the job temporarily.

I noticed something similar last night in my girlfriends 1.2SX - not going over bumps, but as I accelerated, both from standing start and through the gears. She noticed it this morning but it had stopped creaking this afternoon! Sounds like an engine mount is on the way out. I'm guessing the engine mounts are similar to the ones on Mk2 Golfs and the like. Is this likely to be the source of the creak? Anyone else had similar noises?

Apologies for the thread Hijack, but it's a similar thing!:D

It could well be the TCA bushes or the antiroll bar bushes. These seem to be the worst culprits

To back up what RUM4MO said, I've just had solid cupra bushes fitted tot he TCA's, new ARB (had the old plastic cups to hold it in that had moved!) and bushes to the wifes 2002 1.2. I can honestly say it makes quite a the difference. Steering is more postive, not washy, and braking and general drivetrain movement is much reduced. Perhaps it needs a cupra badge now...bless it:lol:

I got the bushes changed for £80 and no extra charge for fitting ARB as its all in the same area. Tracking was done too for £40 for 4 wheel.

hope you find your squeek.

Just to add to all the other comments - use red rubber grease on all the bushes when you have them installed - it helps to stop the bushes drying out.

My cupra bushes have been in 4 years now and the other bushes were red rubber greased at the same time.

not a squeek out of them since ( pun intended - haha )
