bulge under front wheelarches

Hey guys, i'm trying to identify what certain bulge under the front wheelarches are. They are situated near the lip at about 1 o'clock on the left arch and 11 o'clock on the right arch. They also have a bolt on each bulge.
The reason i'm asking is as now i have put spacers on my car i seem to get minor rubbing when i go into dips in the road a little to quick. It seems to be that thats scraping. I'm considering modifying the arches or just removing these bulges. possibly even lifting the car about 5mm all-round to ease this. If the bulges turn out to be modules that serve a purpose i might see if it's possible to relocate them. Other than that i'll be tip toeing around certain parts of town in edinburgh

I'll try and take some pics, but you can feel them very easily with your fingers.

It is possible due to the 35mm drop cos I have 15mm spacer around with no problems [ Im also asuming that you are on 18" wheels not 17" as to the bulges I cannot give you a positive answer [other than they might be to do with the anit roll mount??] at the moment my Seat workshop manual is "off line at the moment, but Im sure there must be some SEAT techies on line that should be able to assist

u must be hitting the dips at some speed to get it to rub ?

mine rubs slightly on those very bits u described when i hit a few big dips on backroads beside me at like 60+ .........i'm on 19s btw.

yours being on coils should be stiffer so should be harder to rub/bottom out. must be a case of you're that low or the spacers moving the wheels out are causing it.

could be an idea but....if ur nearly needing tyres.... drop to a 215 profile and a tyre thats got more of a rounded side to them - pirelli pzero neros are an example. this would help with clearance

Thanks for the replies guys.
it's a more severe dip in town i hit, but doing about 35-40mph and it scraps. I'll need to try a back road dip. normal hard cornering seems fine tho. i'm going to give it a few weeks and see what circumstances causes the scraping, then decide on what to do. If the car needs to be lifted 5mm then so be it.

Due to the offset and the extra width wheels i'm running, my wheels are the same as having 23.8mm spacers on each wheel. I've got the car lowered 50mm at the front and 35mm at the back, not got any rubbing issues. However I did do a Colin Mcrae style launch over a back road crest and got a pretty loud crash noise...suppose that's expected :p

Ive always mentioned this when people talking about lowering alot. They are just extra screws to support the arch liner. I removed the bolt and cut the excess plastic on the bulge. Removed this about two years ago and had no problems. :)
