BSR Tuning and 42 Draft Designs

Hi all..

i've been looking for a software improvement for my car for a while now and although I've been skeptical about it I think I have found a good solution.

I live in Saudi Arabia so I can't remap the car without the option to remove the map. If something goes wrong with the car the dealer here may potentially refuse to service my car, not only deny me warranty.

So far the only options I know of is:

AmD Technik: too expensive, plus I need to pay for shipping four times.
REVO: need to send my ECU to UK once, so pay for shipping twice. 100 quid each way. Plus I need to buy the SPS3 at extra cost
BSR Tuning: seems to be OK - they send a module which I update over the Internet, so I only pay for shipping once and don't need to remove ECU.

Does anyone have experience with the BSR Remap? The only do Saab, Volvo and VAG cars.

Also, I've been looking at this downpipe; what do you think?

Someone told me that one-piece downpipes are much better than ones with flanges between the pipe and the cat, but I think if the gasket and bolts are good and tight then it should be fine, right? this DP is much cheaper than others, though, and 42 DD products are really good usually.

My dad had the BSR remap on a Volvo D5 engine. I did it for him. They send you the box. Usually you just plug it into your PC, update the map on the box from the pc software they give to you, then plug it into your car, you can revert it back to normal software too.

In his case, BSR didnt have a map for his engine at the time, so I read the map off the ECU using the box, logged into the account on the pc software and uploaded the map to them, a few days later the remap was ready and was sent back and I loaded it onto the car. Its very simple and instructions are good.

It seemed very smooth and torquey

BSR have been mentioned on http://uk-mkivs.net/ - a few people have talked about it on there.

42 Draft Designs are talked about on vwvortex.com

yes i've read good things about the 42 DD downpipe.

The point I was worried about is should I weld the cat to the DP when I get it? or will the gasket/bolts be enough to seal the exhaust?

So seems good then? I think i'll just have to go for it even though its very expensive.

AmD Oneclick as I mentioned is expensive, and its not updatable over the 'net so i'd have to pay for courier shipping 4 times - they send me the box, I download my map to it, send it back, they remap, send me the box.

Just realised that's 3 times but anyway its still a lot of money as it would cost over 300 quid just for the shipping.
