Just VAG COMed my 1.2s Ibiza (2002) and found that their is an intermittent fault with the EGR valve that is causing the flat spots in acceleration discussed last week.
What are my options for getting this sorted?
I know it can be replaced, but could it be cleaned? If so how? Ha sanyone a diagram/pic of the engine to show where it is located.
If it is a case of having it replaced, where is the cheapest place to source one from? VAGparts want about £78 all in, where as the SEAT dealer is talking about £110. Can it be got cheaper? Is it an easy job to fit?

Any fool proof guides etc?

Cheers in advance

Rob

I know nowt about cars, just trying to find the easiest and cheapest method to make my car work properly :)

Has anyone got a pic of the engine to help me identify where it is, how to get it off, how to clean it?

It will depend on emissions mate - the EGR is there to reduce the emission of Nitrogen oxides in the exhaust. If you're lucky the car will scrape through the emissions test - if you're not, it won't
