Second hand they seem to go from £200 to £350. New they are the best part of £1k.

Havent left it long to try and dry it out. How is it damaged beyond repair.

the garage have told me that after trying to dry it out that it now wont work at all. i'll try and get it off them tomorrow for the weekend and dry it out.

if i do need a new ECU, does it have to match my engine code?

Mine filled with water. I tried to start the car a few times before i realised what it was. I took it apart and left it on a towel on the radiator for the day. By the end of work it was fine and started the car straight away.

just rang SEAT... really helpful!
the part number has rubbed off the ECU , so i cant see it.
gave SEAT my chassis number, but they cant find it on there system... they only made my car, but nevermind

they have said my ECU part number is either

6k0 906032AA
or
6k0 906032

anyone know what the extra 'AA' means???
cheers!

all sorted! stupid *&%£$ garage nearly cost me a lot of money getting a new ECU!

when i checked behind the ECU holder, there is a cable that should be going to ground. for some reason that was disconnected, so my car couldn't start.
reconnected this cable, fitted the ECU, bought a brand new battery, and its all working fine now.

the guy put down that my car needed a new ECU on the receipt.. so glad i didn't listen to him!

went for a drive, and it all seems well :) i'm rather happy!! shame its costing me nearly £200 though.

£150 for the garage to check it and tow it home
£32 for a new battery as mine was dead and wouldn't charge

Ah well, at least it wasn't another £200 for extra ECU. I recently did need a new one.
At least you know its nice and clean now! Time for stage 2...
