Hi guys had my car a week now and when i bought it i noticed some white marks on the roof but thought that they would just polish off. However i was wrong, its bird droppings that must have been on there for a good while as it seems they have burnt through the laquer and it feels like its bubbled up, worried that these wont come out unless there like 3000 wet n dried then machine polished to remove.

Here are some pics of the marks on the roof can anyone suggest anything to try apart from the method i said, im going to get my car fully detailed soonish but dont know if these would be able to be removed.

I'm afraid the acid in the bird poop can do permanent damage, no idea how it doesn't burn their a*se when they pass it, anyway that's besides the point :D

This happend on an old car of mine that I had freshly reprayed. What can only be described as a Terradactyl shat on my bonnet and tarnished the laquer within the 2 or so hours I had it parked up. Solution: back to the bodyshop and had to have the area in question rubbed back down and redone, no amount of polish, t-cut, clay or any off-shelf things would do it for me :(

as you mentioned, it may require some machine action. don't use t-cut. if you have some AG SRP you could give that a try (doubt it'll do much). or try something like a Degreaser or Tardis or claying, see if that will remove anything before going straight to the machine

Straight to machine polishing with something fairly aggresive. It probably won't shift it but you should be able to reduce it down so it is hardly noticeable. You will get nowhere by hand or with tardis.

Despite what Mat has said, try using a bit of T cut - just not too aggresive with it. However that does look really nasty. If its just milky it should come off but if the lacquer is crazed/lifted then its a spray job really.

I did Tcut the affected areas on an old chaps bonnet down the road. He always keeps his MkV Golf mint but had these several large milky bird splats on his bonnet - car is black. For months and months I told him a bit of T cut then I went there for five minutes, very lightly and all three splats are gone. He was so chuffed and wished he'd done it sooner - but was too frightened to.

I'd say always give it a try, but be very careful with it. Very lighlty, buff off and keep checking.

3000 wet and dry will do the same job ultimately.
