Brembo Jr - What wheels?

Hi everyone,

virgin post (I'm an A3 guy - so please go easy on me!!)

The main reason for coming to the site is to ask some of you guys about the Brembo Jr GT kit - I've got one and I'm struggling to fit it and I'm hoping you guys can offer some advice.

My car is an 03 Audi A3 quattro and I'm running with 17" OEM 9-spoke at the mo and whilst the diameter is ok, the caliper is touching on the inner curve of the spoke. I know I can clear the caliper with 10mm spacers but then I have problems with the outer arch - so it's time for a wheel change.

I'm trying to stick with OEM VAG wheels and would prefer to go 18" - although the more searches I do on the web I'm starting to think that aftermarket / reps are the only way to go.

The real question I'm asking is what wheels will fit over these calipers without the need for spacers - do you guys keep a "list" anywhere

No list as far as I know as spacers are generally the answer for us, Leon arches are very accomodating. Could you not try 5mm spacers or do the new calipers stick further than those?

Hi Jay, thanks for the reply.

Found a list in Bills' badger section - although it mainly centred on Ibizas' and the smaller disk kit, there was a bit of info regarding the LCR / Jr GT sizes.

I think the smallest I could have got away with to clear the caliper was about 8mm, but the largest I could have got away with to sit nicely within the arch was about 5mm!!!

Cant't believe that just a few mms here and there are causing me such a problem!!

I did try to stick with Brembos' guidance of 3mm caliper clearance, but it seems alot of people are actually going a bit closer than this - which I suppose shouldn't be a problem with good quality wheels - and I'd like to think that OEM VAG wheels fall into this category!!
