Afternoon Guys

I am just wondering if any of you who own a LCR has had a problem with the laquer on the Brembos flaking. Mine has done 13510 miles and this is happening (more on the offside). Took it to my local dealer today and they said this is a problem but Seat wont replace them under warrenty. Can anyone either offer suggestions or has had this problem and what was the outcome. A friend of the family is the aftersales manager for my local Seat so hes gonna try and help me out if not will be a kindly worded letter to Mr Seat i think. Once again what are you guys thinking.

Thanks Rikko

Try doing a search - I've seen this come up before with some people having success at their dealer. I think Seat's argument is that the brakes are no less effictive, its just the asthetics.

Common problem on all Brembo's on the LCR, Scooby, Evo's and the like. Seen plenty on LCR's and Evo's with peeling lacquer on the Brembo's.

Mine have just started to go as well. Gonna give the a light key and then re-lacquer them and see what happens. If not successfuly, just gonna re-paint them on the car and get some new Brembo's stickers.

Thought about painting them yellow.....what do people think of this idea?? Anyone wanna do a photo shop on a red LCR??

Reckon it will look pants myself. Gold possibly, but not yellow.

Porsche get away with, but their yellow calipers signify carbon/ceramic setup....

My LCR has done 46K, and the calipers are peeling very badly. They started about 6 months after i bought the car and as it was still under used car warranty i thought SEAT might sort it, but they said the paint warranty was out of date and there is nothing they can do. I sent pictures to Customer services but they couldnt help either.

This i know alittle about I work for Mitsi so laquer peeling on Brembos is a common problem.

I've not known a problem with brake fluid leaking from the bleed nipple.

Alot of the damage is accredited to prolonged heat damage, Mitsi have paid for Brembo's be re-laquered but only on newer vehicles, but saying that it's been a while since i personally have seen any laquer comming off tends to affect the Evo 6's & 7's more !

But saying that the 8's are getting older now so might well be seeing more in the future, either that or there is thicker laquer on the new Brembo's ... Only time will tell i guess

Mine are going too, as are everybody else's who has Brembos! But I'm going to leave mine until they are so bad they warrant a paint job, and will then get them painted yellow with blue writing to match the car.

The trouble will be finding a company who are able to paint brakes well enough to avoid the heat ruining them!
