brembo brake availabilty

hi, am i just not looking very hard or does it only seen the only place to get replacement pads and disks for the CUPRA R (brembo) is from a seat dealer, i can find other brands for it but i want brembo???

nice site by the way people, im new here, got my cupra r a couple of weeks ago and love it!

You're not looking very hard :)

Do a search for brakes in this forum and in the various sponsor forums and you'll find a massive amount of info! Ferrodo are the popular choice around here, for good reason I must add!

blind me, thanks fro the quick replies, iv never heard of ferrodo before, i take it they peform better or are they just cheaper

TTS roadsport (a site sponsor) sell brembo discs for the LCR. they do the original plain discs or cross-drilled for the same price. they also sell ferrodo pads and EBC redstuffs too if that is what tickles your fancy!

With the right brackets and correct wheel clearance I don't see why not. They wont fit under Cupra wheels though, or many aftermarket 18's for that matter.

I've just spoken to a very helpful gentleman at TTS who advised me that they stock front LCR Ferrodo DS2500 pads for £115, OE Brembo pads for £120 and Ferrodo DS Performance pads (manufactured for road use rather than DS2500's which were designed for track) for £85.

The gentleman said that he prefers the Ferrodo DS Performance pads (which he uses on his car) over the DS2500 as they are legal for road use and offer excellent value for money V performance.

Has anyone had any Experience of these pads?

Not experience exactly but TTS sent me Ferrodo DS pads which didn't fit the LCR, when I took them back they were still struggling to work out which were the correct fitment. I ended up with EBC Red stuff pads which work very well but are a bit grumbly with the drilled Brembos (I didn't fancy having track use only pads on a road car) - only had them 3 weeks though.

TTS were really very helpfully and I would recommend them, just make sure they know the right pads to get if you go for the DS performance pads. If you do, post here so we know which ones to get!

Edit: I think his own car is an Ibiza not a Leon (or could be a Saxo), but not sure...

DS2500's are extremely well proven as an upgrade to stock pads on LCR's and for good reason. LCR's being both heavy, well endowed in the performance dept, with big old Brembo 4-pot calipers, cope better than a Regulation 90 pad would with the higher loads applied to it. LCR owners seem to consume their pads at a far more regular frequency than others for this reason. Overheat a std pad and a DS regular pad is Regulation 90 compliant, same as std, hence less braking efficient than DS2500's and dont cope with the high heats they see in service.. bake a pad from hard use and if not suited to the use, the binder burns leaving only the gritty media to grab the disk surface, consequence being disk wear rate is much increased.

you pays your money and you takes your choice, but there is no coincidence that DS2500's are so popular... partly as I introduced them the Seat community as an upgrade following Performance Friction upgrades which were OTT in the dust dept, but braked superbly. DS2500's were the nice next best thing for road car like LCR.

alex has an ibiza cupra with brembo's and vince has a saxo with brembo's too (the only saxo in bedford that isn't modded with chavvy halfords add-ons) they're both good lads and have helped me out no end.
