Break light stuck on & now no revs

Hi,

New to this forum, despite owning my Altea Xl automatic since 2012, (2008 plate).

Over time I've had numerous electrical problems with the car, which is frustrating as its a lovely car to drive and has the perfect amount of space for us as a family!

Most I've been able to just ignore/resolve, but the latest I cant!

Took the car to the garage with my coil light on. They said it was heat plugs so replaced that unit. At the same time they noticed my break lights were stuck on - I hadn't been aware of this! They changed the switch pedal, and the break light bulbs. They also found it was intermittent- they turned off for a short time then stuck back on again. Minus £300 later I'm left with a car that I cannot drive and they have said they've done what they can but it needs an elec mech which they don't have!
Brought it home to research electricans and no one is available till mid jan, and when I came to move it around a week later (had driven home then moved to better location on the drive the next day) it now is giving no revs on the acceleration pedal, so is now unmovable!!

Sorry for the verbal diarrhea, but i'm Desperate for ideas/solutions here!

I had an Altea that had done 12 years, upgraded that to an Ateca. Yours is 14 years old. Think mine went on for a couple of more years checking the plate. The Altea is a comfortable car with good seats although with age mine started to loose the comfort.

I had one random event when the head lights and suspect the taillights turned themselves on with the switch off. Lasted for a few days. The dealers was prepared to take my money, said the electrical control box is problematic and difficult to diagnoses. Booked it, but it cleared itself so I cancelled the appointment. Think it was dampness.

The other problem was it refused to start for 24 hours. Power, no turnover. That cleared itself. Think dampness again.

Sounds like you need one of those independent VAG specialists. If you had home Seat cover, the AA people do call out VAG mobile specialists. Elsewhere on the board someone had a dealer that wasn't fixing their car, a Seat Customer Services centre order to wait and see. They got the AA out who called the VAG specialist and they did the work. Went round the dealership and the central order not to touch the issue since they didn't want to pick up the tab. I liked that one.

Getting the car serviced on a Seat Plan does give you that AA service thrown in so that's a possible to explore if you have that. Broken down on the drive ticks boxes.
