Braking = passenger side sidelight on and passenger side brake light off...

Hey all. As above. Just noticed that pressing the brake pedal engages the passenger side front side light and turns off the same-side brake light on the rear. Both the other 2 brake lights come on as expected and all rear bulbs are working. The rear light bulb has been changed, so can rule that out.

I don't think it makes any difference, but FYI, I have the HIDS4U kit installed as well as LED side lights.

Got some spare time this weekend, so hoping to try fix it if at all possible (gotta change faulty temp sensor too). Seat parts is closed now (and tomorrow), so other than changing the brake switch next weekend (next time I'll be free), anything else I could check today/tomorrow?

The brake switch under the steering wheel/in footwell seems like the obvious fix to me, but you guys may have a better idea! :)

Cheers for any advice.

Sounds like a possible bad earth maybe in the boot next to the rear light.

That certainly is what used to cause some of these problems, or maybe you have not fitted the correct type of bulb or have fitted it into the holder incorrectly - these things used to be pretty obvious, but I seem to remember that the fittings and bulbs available now make that a very easy mistake, coupled by some of the bulb application listings being a bit wrong.

Why not just swop the rear bulbs side to side and see what happens.

Hi both, Thanks for the replies, much appreciated and sorry about the delayed reply, seems I didn't have the free time I was expecting! Swapped out the faulty temp sensor, but haven't had a chance to have a look at the light (or your helpful posts) :(

I'll have a fiddle with the bulbs, definitely fitted the right one though. The same issue was occurring with the previous bulb, which is why I swapped it out. The Light comes on when used at night, just turns off when the brake pedal is engaged.

How would I go about checking the earth? I'll have a go in me lunchbreak tomorrow, if it doesn't require a load of electronic testing gear (multimeter or something - no idea, just guessing TBH). I'll bring me tool kit into work.

Cheers.

Mine happened when I changed a dead brake light bulb...but I THINK that the bulb wasn't quite seated properly and wasn't conducting it's signal/electricity properly so it was fudging the whole lighting system up. Just check that everything is definitely seated properly/conducting would be my advice!
