well my brakes on my 1.6 are gettin towards being changed in the next month or so and needles to say they are shocking

so i've been looking at brakes and obvisly the first things im attracted to are brembos but there a too much money for me atm :( so i've had a look at what else there is out there and i were thinking cupra calipers and the top pads and discks that you can buy :) but then in the scrapyard today i saw an audi a3 2.3v5 turbo and i wounded if theese would fit (fitting under wheels is no problem) and if anyone had used theese as im pressume there bigger than the cupra one but won't know till tomorrow for sure.

Is there any other brakes out there that you would recomended

there alot smaller than the cupra ones i know that the cupra rear brake calipers are nearly as big as my front ones. I shall measure up tomorrow as far as im aware there is another sport owner to do this and he had to use the carriers to iirc.

Cupra brakes are your best bet. Matched with some top discs and pads. To be honest a set of Ferodo DS2500 pads would probably make a huge improvement on your standard setup. Big brakes always look better though.:) Like you said, Brembos would be overkill on a 1.6.

yeah the cupra calipers are a direct fit if they come with the carriers, and with ferrodo ds2500's and brembo disks they are perfect for the sport :) mine have been one of the best upgrades on the car :)
