brakes upgrade from 256 to 280

Hi

Is there anyone who did the upgrade from 256x20 to 280x22 mm changing only 280's carriers and disk - without changing calipers and pads from 280's ?

Bought a 280mm set-up off a Mk3 Ibiza, and I'm just going to use the carriers and a set of new discs

and you are not going to change calipers from 280's as well ?

From what I've been told, there's no need to change the calipers, as they're identical (or as near as damn it!!!)

I have actually got the full set-up, but byusing the existing calipers, it means I haven't got to mess around bleeding the brakes etc afterwards.. not that it's a big job, just a pain!

You are right with this bleeding but there is a diffrens between 256's and 280's caliper ! In SEAT numbers is only very small - 256 - 357 615 123 A
280 - 357 615 123 B

but in live 256 is narrower and you can only put pads 16mm. You can't use 19mm which are made for 280's.

I sill debate about changing carrier and caliper to get the whole set. I don't buy things from the second hand so now you understand my problem ... if it is not nessesary I take only carriers for about 100 quid, if not I take calipers as well for another 80 (cheaper from carriers!)

I'm also doing this conversion as my old discs are pretty much worn out. Only problem is I have to change the wheelbearing housing also as my discs are 239x20.

Are the calipers on the 280x22 set red as they are on a cupra or are they unpainted??

it depends which who do you get, some where red some not

the hoses in 256 and 280's should be the same, shouldn't they ?
