When braking normally in my PD140 the brakes are fine but when I brake a bit sharper for e.g when a traffic light changes the brake pedal feels hard and there is very little feel, they never used to do this. So I'm guessing the pads are worn.

Any thoughts?

That sounds like a brake servo problem, unlike petrol engines that use vacumn from the engine, diesels have a pump to work the servo and they dont usually work as efficiently or aswell but there could be a problem with the pump or the pipe work to the servo. If there is a problem with the servo you will get a very hard pedal and very little feel.

Time for a visit to the dealers i think.

Yeah, think I will drop it in early next week, it just doesnt feel right and after looking the discs and pads look fine.

The missus ran over a goose or some other large bird the other week which cracked the bumper (but that is another story) is it possible this could have damaged something as she said she actually drove over it!
