looking to upgrade my brakes

or shal i get genuine splash guards , i believe my 288 ones wont fit

no idea on that link but in the for sale section is some 312mm carriers or is it callipers.
reading the 20million threads that is all you need for it, along with discs and pads of course.

i'm getting splash guards from garage as only about tenner if if recall.

we only need carriers to convert , , not sure on the covers tho,

the kit above mentions carriers , look fabricated tho in the pic

so to put it simple , what do i need ,

CArriers disks and pads , what else

fluid i think and that's it. That is all i have for mine, but splashed out on the whole kit for only £100, so was easy choice.
splash guards some have so because could cause grief if a stone gets caught between and ruin the disc rubbing against it.

Too right! I paid £110 just for the carriers.

Another £120 for some Ferodo DS2500's

And another £120 for the Brembo discs.

Should be well worth it though

You dont need to change the splash gaurds on a leon if upgrading to 312s if it already has 288s.
All you need is 2 x discs, 2 x carriers - i did mine last weekend and i cost less than £180 and that was with drilled grooved discs, took less than an hour and now looks mint. I havent noticed that much in the way of stopping power though.

There are carriers on ebay for £90 and discs (drilled grooved) for the same price, you can use the origional pads if they are quite new but take the face off them with sand paper to allow them to re-bed in.

Well worth it, goodridge hoses for £50 whilst you've already got it stripped. Get it done!
I bought 3 sets of discs from ebay seller m-tec - really good value, he does all types of combinations.

What are you trying to aheive in the long run? If your going big power I personally think you need much better breaks.

312mm are great for 2-3 hard stops however they do fade after.

well the plans are there to go hybrid , so would these not cope ?

what about R32's , i dont wanna go blowing hundreds on brakes

i wont be tracking the car ,

may have the odd lead footing balls out not an everyday thrashing - on a private road / runway ofcourse

Brakes are probably THE MOST important thing on a car in my opinion. My big brakes saved me from in lots of situations like the person in front doing an emergancy stop on the motorway or a kid running in front of my car after their football.

312mm conversion is good but not for hybrid.

R32 setup is really good.

depends on the end result i suppose , if your just going to map the car , 312's sound fine
if your going hybrid bigger

how hard/much £ is an R32 set up then

This is just my opinion, other peoples opinion my vary. Those who been in my car including LCR owners with grooved discs and ds2500 pads always compliment how well the car stops (partly due to pistons being double the size). My point is summed up by Andrews last post #16

312mm for remap is great
312mm for hybrid is no good

Some r32 calipers go for £200-300 i seen on ebay Andrew. You can fund brembo setup cheaply enough tbh. I believe brembo calipers can be purchased for £225 each brand new?...

i have a set of seat sport brakes, they should be ok running on 312mm with a hybrid. i am having problems getting some wheels that fit over the brakes so be careful. in my opinion, i have mates with Audi A3's running hybrid turbo's (240 - 280 bhp) and they have no trouble stopping with the tt brakes so think u will be fine!
