You may have noticed I've posted a few times over the past few days asking for advice. After getting me cupra r on the weekend im wanting it as ready as possible for the nurburgring trip in May!!

The brakes at the moment are pretty mint but im thinkin new grooved and drilled discs and pads before the trip. Any suggestions?

Ferrodo DS2500 pads should sort you out.
I'm going for some Brembo disc's again and I might get them grooved.

I'm trying to get a brake test set up just now, try 'Big brake set up test' in the search function.

Basically EBC/CRN 323mm grooved discs, DS2500 pads and uprated brake fluid ~ £350

Brembo Grooved 323mm discs, DS2500 pads and uprated fluid ~£450

or

Badger 5 2 piece 330mm discs, DS2500/DS3000 pads and uprated fluid and hoses ~£700 (fade free, all singing all dancing smash your head off the windscreen set up)

Are the most popular set ups, cheapest and in my opinion least effective set up at the top.

You can getb 308mm ones for the rear but at £500 just nott worth it.
They look very very nice but I don't think there is enough performance gains to justify the price.
I'm leaving the rear OEM just now, I have EBC Ultimax's and Pagid fast road pads in there just now.
The rear only does 20% of braking so not worth too much consideration TBH

yeh good advice mate, its just that my car is touching 27k now and i was warned in my last service that the discs are starting to get a lip on them, so dunno how much longer they have....i think i will go for your front set up (are yours grooved)?

the rears look so bad even though they normally have up to 60k..for normal road use....its just that if i do the front i wanna do the rear..may just get standard rear size and uprated pads.

only downsides to getting upgraded pads is excessive brake dust which seems to bond to alloys very very quickly, no big deal though as i would prefer better stopping than lovely shiny wheels...

will probably get them rust coated, to protect them....front and rear grooved...so thats best part of £1000 with goodrigbe braided hoses?

I was £650 for my set up with DS2500 pads plus if you wanted braided lines (which I didn't bother with) and brake fluid say £120, so ontop of that you will need rear discs and pads. I wouldn't have thought these would be more than £200.
I have the grooved ones, these are all you need, drilled have been said to crack but I had Brembo drilled and these never cracked.

I go to the ring at least twice a year and last time out, the Brembo Slotted disks and DS2500's were absolutely fine, although I don't use the brakes anywhere near as much as I did when I first started going 5 years ago :)

Depends on your budget in this day and age but at the minimum I would change the fluid for some racing DOT4 and DS2500's on good condition disks.
I've used ATE Super Blue and Motul RBF500 fluids and both are equally as good.

My S3 had GT3 calipers and 2 piece 334mm slotted and drilled disks and were only marginally better than the LCR's setup.

I'm going in May too, when are you going? We are combining it with a trip to Spa for an MLR track day again.
