Brake upgrade info?

What would I need to upgrade my 1.4's front brakes to something bigger like the setup on a GTi Ibiza?

What do I need?

Hub
Vented Discs (what size) + Pads
Calipers

Anyone done this already? An how much cost would I be looking at?

There's no F in Quality..
you can either go 256mm (2.0 8v Ibiza size) or 280mm (2.0 16v Ibiza / Golf G60) ;)

you need new hubs, carriers, callipers, discs, pads and hoses ;)

If you're lucky like me you can pick the lot up for about £100 notes.... however, the Mk2 Golf guys go for this upgrade, so anything on Ebay tends to go for anything upto about £200 !!!

The 256's are cack, mite be fine for a 1.4 though

I don't have a problem with them on mine on track days with the right pads (DS2500) - but with the radical diet my car has been on, it probably weighs no more than 900kg.
Other thing to bear in mind is 280 discs means you need to have at least 15 inch wheels.

i've got a set of 20VT calipers, pads, hubs, carriers and bearings sat at home if there any good to you

£100 delivered

would they fit mine?

And what discs would I need with them?

Could parts from a 2l 8v take 280mm discs or do I need to have bigger calipers to take them?

yup they'd fit yours, you'd just need a new set of 280mm (Mk2 Golf G60) discs to fit with them, about £60 all in from GSF/ECP ;)

2.0 8v brakes can be used, but you need to get a 280mm brake carrier, which will space the calliper out enough to fit over the 280mm discs.

Any idea how much for the said carrier?
