Hey,

Heres another one for you, im starting to think my car is throwing these codes on purpose to quiz you lot... So heres your starter for 10!

  • I notice this morning that my LED Sidelights are switching on whenever i apply by brakes!
  • Thinking it must have happened all the time ;) i decided to live with it and just switch the sidelights on anyway - i win!
  • Oh no, the car had a trump up its sleve - It turns out when i have my lights on, my Brake lights stay on!!!
  • Heat plug light starts flashing at me at work (dunno when this started but its hard to miss!) Presumably denoting an electrical fault we all know about...
  • In summary, i cant drive around with lights on at the moment as it looks as though im constantly braking

Ive tried the following to fix to no avail:
  • Unplugged boot tail light/fog light/reverse light bulbs
  • Unplugged LED sidelights
  • VAG COM shows "Brake Switch - Implausible Signal (F)

I do have an HID kit, W8 Interior light and Alpine HU - These are the only mod to the electrical system. As the HID system doesnt even need to be switched on, i assume its not that (ill have a play tomorrow tho). Does anyone have any ideas? Could the switch be faulty?

And and 5 point question:
Why the hell do they wire brake switches so they can be affected by side lights!? I hope my airbags arent hooked up to the boot light (which i dont have)

Ive used LED front side-lights in Ibizas for over 2 years now though. So have at least 2 others i know... Why would it break now? It was ususlly the Brake lights when changed to sides that make everythin go pear shaped.

And i tried taking them out and they still no worky

Right, just taken the battery off reset everything, with no LED Sidelights in the car - it still does it...

EDIT:
Just seen this thread so maybee a break light switch it is, but ill check all the bulb filaments arent shorting etc. first!

That implusable signal error is definately brake light switch failure.. mine failed and jammed the brake lights on permanently.
When I got the car Revo'd recently the dealer found this error logged on the ECU with VAG-COM, the Seat dealer hadn't cleared it since replacing it under warranty.

Thanks guys, just getting one from SEAT Autoworld on Sat and taking it to JBS along with the other work that needs doing - £7 + a bit of fitting, cant complain and cant be having dodgy brake lights all bank holiday.

I got mine replaced under warranty, so you shouldn't really have to pay for it.

The local dealers tried to charge me, I insisted it was a warrenty job so they agreed

Noticed that u didnt bring your car in. Probably for the best cos i have got to admit if you can take your car to JBS and get it done no problems its not even worth the hastle of a stupid master tech tellin you its to do with the "air freshner mod" lol and gettin told your warrenty is void now is it.
Hope its fixed and sorted after the work done!

Hi guys, i found the problem and cant believe it!

1x Stop and Tail bulb where the contacts must have welded themselves together. They caused a circuit when one or the other was used.

Also caused the heat plug light to flash, throw up brake switch errors, engine cutting out due to the ECU thinking its braking the whole time and FINALLY causing the electric windows not to go up/down automatically and hit the bottom with a slight thud!

I really cannot believe how much agro this has/could have caused!!!

All fixed now, no ££ needed to be spent, had a spare stop/tail thankfully!
