Hey chaps

Changing discs and pads this weekend after seeing about 1mm left on the front!! Searched but couldn't find the torque settings for the brakes? Standard size discs etc.
I know people say 'just do it until it's tight', but would be good to do it properly.

Can anybody advise?

i will assume you mean the calliper bolts. ? the wheel bolts on the cupra-r 2001-2002 are 110nm so the calliper bolts at a guestemate would be around 80 or 90nm only guestemate tho.

What discs and pads you going for? Ive got to change mine within the next couple of weeks and not sure what to get? You got brembo's or standard cupra brakes

Ive got zimmerman discs with pagid fast road pads at the minute. Seem pretty good!

Standard set up, but the car came with a spare set of honeywell front disks a pagid pads, so I'll be using these for the mo. When I can afford it I'll be buying some eliptically grooved brembo discs & ferodo pads from Bill. Unless a better setup comes along of course!!

I know what you mean mate.

Before I decided to go the LC route of 312mm discs up front I did some searching on Ebay and the Zimmerman one's came up as good quality for good price. Not fancy getting them again if your budget is tight?

Well that really depends I guess.

I bought my set second hand with practically new discs and pads, callipers, carriers and goodridge steel hoses for around 220 euro's iirc.

Then I payed another 30 euro's to get the carriers milled down and get the discs re-drilled to 4x100 (only 2 extra holes needed on original discs)

So i was set for +/- 250 euros (which back then was no more than 200 quid, now approximately 250 quid lol)

I asked bill for a quote on some disks and ferrodo pads.. was ment to go for that set up just before christmas but when i was having some work done on my car they noticed my disks were crumbling. Had some Zimmerman disks and Pagid pads put on. Couldnt risk not changing but still wish i had as the Pagid pads are awful, overheat after 2minutes. Stops well for that 2minutes of harsh braking like but then its abit of a close your eyes and hope you slow down enough experience.

Will be using these while weather not too good and when it comes to better weather and plan to go on track will be getting a set up probably off bill.

I cant fault my zimmerman disks and pagid fast road pads. They are fine. Overheat after a real load of abuse but i drive like a complete twat and found them fine. A lot better than my standard ones i had before. Well worth it i think as i payed £74 for the disc's and pads. Got a cracking deal :p
