Hey lads was driving my lcr the other day when the tcs/esp light came on and won't go off.. My Mec put it on vag com and it's coming up as a brake pressure sensor I didn't get the faults code as he wrote it down and is also guna do some research on it but fears it's the abs unit itself just wondering has anybody else had the same problem and if so what way did u go about sorting it.. Also would Audi skoda vw etc part fit it.. Ohh my car is 2004 lcr any info would be appreciated cheers lads..

The brake master cylinder has two of these sensors fitted underneath. Nothing to do with Abs unit.

If this was the problem it would be a relief as I've read horror stories about people having to replace abs units is this a common fault on the mk1 or the mk2.. Also is there a way of know weather it's the g201 or g204 sender sorry for all the questions :/

On my LCR the fault code says it was the g201 sendor so your mechanic should know what one it is if vag-com. I don't know what sendor is what on the master cylinder but a competent mechanic should know ones what.

K lads can anyone just clear this up for me.. on the mk1 lcr the g201 and g204 sensors are not located internally in the abs unit.. They are two external sensors located on the master cylinder? Is it the newer vag units that had this problem with the g201 inside the unit failure there for it had to be rebuilt or replaced?

Correct, it's the mk5 golf chassis that had the sensors inside the abs unit.

Correct but if you ring seat and tell them its a g201 fault they will probably book it in for you and get it done at the dealers FOC. Its a sod of a job as the master cylinder needs removing (if its the furthest sensor) and the a full brake bleed including both nipples on the m/ cylinder. Seat changed only one of my sensors for me and the fault remains so i'll have a crack at changing the other when time permits. If you do the job yourself.....change both of them so you don't have this prob again.

Just got in from work said I'd go have a look under the bay and see what kinda of a job it is to take the master cylinder out as I'm not to bad on the spanners.. I just stood back and said to myself why did I sell my dc5 integra type r haha

That's good. I might try replacing my brake light switch if my light comes back on.
