Brake pads way off flat

Hi - Checked the air pressure in the tyres today and noticed some funny wear on my brake pads. Doesn't look normal to me - there must be a 5mm difference in thickness from top to bottom.

Hopefully the link works. It's an Altea TDi FR if that makes any difference.

If I recall correctly, there is a chamfered area to the top and bottom of the pads. There is nothing to worry about from looking at your picture. Hopefully someone else will come in and verify this.

isnt the later spring type designed to lean in to save squealing when off the brakes

sure i read it on a vauxhall thing that had the same design

Thanks everyone - just spoke to a helpful guy at Emmer Green Seat and as you said they're supposed to be like that, the pads are chamfered on the edges to reduce squeal.
