Hello,

Just noticed my brake lights are not working. Took the fuse (number 13) out to see if it was that. It was fine. But i put a new fuse in just in case. Still not working (all 3 brake lights !). The bulbs are fine too.

Any ideas ?, cost etc ?

Best Regards,
Andy

Its really easy mate. I took my time and it still only took 15 minutes (... I don't do much on cars). The part it about £5 or £8 from any GSF auto spares.

Honest mate it really is a very simple repair - a couple of screws, twist out the old one, disconnect the wire, connect the new one and twist back in. The guide provided above is very good.

Might just pop it up in the morning to our local VAG dealer as they won't rip me off. They've been good to me in the past, and (don't laugh) but i haven't the confidence to do the work myself !. And as you say it should be a stock item so they might do it there and then.

Andy

Hi Guys, just popped it down the local VAG garage and they put it on the diagnostics, no fault found. They replaced the brake pedal switch and hey presto!, it works now.

They charged me £45 all in, so not too bad. They didn't even charge for the VAG test because i was a "regular" !.

The local SEAT garage quoted £85 !.

Sorted!

Cheers all who helped.

They were actually on best part of 40 minutes, VAG test showed up nothing, and i saw them working the whole 40 mins so money well spent i think !. I know what would have happened if i had tried to fit it, i would have broke the switch ! :(
