brake light indicator has come on

hi to all,i need help as i cannot find my leon manaul, one of the dash lights with a beep has come on,i reckon it is the brake indicator light.its yellow and (0).any dieas what it could be?i have read threads and it looks like it could be either brakes need changing or brake fluid is low,how can i check if the fluid is is low and do i just top it up and how to i determine whether it is the brakes itself or the fluid?any help please. thanx

Check the brake fluid level in the engine bay, min and max marks indicated on it. If you do refil the brake fluid make sure you get the right DOT number fluid for your car, this will probably be DOT4 but always check if unsure ask at your local suppliers (halfords). More than likley the brake pads, best to get the wheels off and visually check the pads for there wear levels. Most garges will do a free brake check.

thanx i have changed the pads and the wanrning light is off,now my engine managemtn light is on and my tcs is off,,engine fault codes: 17705-p1297
