Hi guys

2010 6J Ibiza FR 2.0 TDi ex 143 Hp (now 170).

Need to change my Brake Pads & Discs but i don`t know what discs diameter to buy, if 256mm or 288mm.
i use Autodoc to order all my components and putting my VIN in the order verification the support team told me that the 256mm discs aren`t compatible and i need instead the 288 ones, at the same time online i see countless forums saying that the diameter is 256mm and not 288mm
Is there any alternative method or online tool to figure it out other than physically measuring the discs?

I think, or assume - dangerous words, that 256mm front discs were only fitted to cars that had "up to 95PS" engine output power, that "95ps" is a guess, I used to consider that the change over in front disc size started at 100PS.

Now, it is not only the disc diameter that changes, the calliper changed also, the 256mm front brakes had FS111 stamped or cast on the outer face of the calliper, and had no additional damping spring fitted, the 288mm front brakes had ATE FN3 callipers, these callipers have a vertical spring strip running down the outer face of the calliper - which is very easy to see by looking in through the alloy wheels.

Edited 12/08/23 I wrote 265mm for the smaller disc size when it should have been 256mm!

I never rely on the parts listed based on registration. Euro car parts is always wrong & even when I actually select srt in the drop down lists rather than standard model for both jeeps, it still pulls up the wrong size discs & claim they are compatible even though the size listed were never fitted to any of the performance versions. Always best get the info first then check spec before ordering. If in doubt go to a brakes specialist like biggred or manufacturer like ebc & they can normally provide correct info & supply as cheap (unless you’re after a cheap brand)

Getting sizes wrong, or maybe making assumptions, I know someone that thought that he would help his mum pick a set of winter wheels and tyres for her new LR Evoque going by the engine size and general trim level - he started doing one side then the other when the wheels arrived, he managed to get one on the rear hub, but something was stopping the first front one going on, whoops, LR do tend to send out "good value" extras on some of their LRs - in this case bigger brakes that expected - very annoying!
