Hi Folks,

I am currently away from home with work and need to order new discs and pads for my 2003 Leon 1.9tdi 110bhp SX model as it was an advisory on the MOT. Problem is the missus does not have a clue how to take the wheels off the car and measure disc diameter so could someone advise me if my car has the following:

Front 282mm
Rear 230mm

There is confusion on the sites as to what the diameter of the discs is so any advice is much appreciated.

Wouldn’t mind getting them ordered so they are at home when i get back, if not then i will need to wait and check when i get home.

Cheers
Mark

Elsawin shows 280mm front, 232mm rear. Next size up at the front is 288mm, down is 256mm so asking for 282 should get the right size...

I've just changed my own front disks (51 plate TDI 110 Toledo) and the old disks measure exactly 280mm in diameter, not 282.

Elsa WIn stated 280mm front brake discs for my specific VIN number.

Other catalogues state 280mm front discs for 15 inch wheels, 256mm for 14 inch wheels

My 1.6 16 valve has 15 inch standard alloys on it, so should have, according to all the catalogues, 280mm front discs. So that's what I ordered. Stripped everything down, to find it has 256 mm on it, and the calipers are too small for the 280mm.

Don't take as gospel the word of Elsa Win or Euro Car Parts etc catalogues -- this proves they are not always right. Always measure the actual discs you have on your particular car before you order new discs! (The pads are the same for both sizes of disc)

ECP shows my fronts as 288mm where as they are infact standard 312mm. Pain in the arse as i cant just put in my reg and have to go through VW->Bora->2.8 to get them in the correct sizes

Mine was 280mm front and 232mm rear. Opted for some new mintex pads and discs all round. The front ones had very little wear on the pads but discs were shot. Oh well 50K miles out of them is ok i suppose.
