Brake Calipers

Just spend last weekend painting my calipers and i'm pretty happy with them, although i didn't remove them from the car just painted them all hooked up.

I've been thinking that i'd like to do "them" properly and was looking to see if i could get a second set of both front and back from a wrecked ibiza and get them powder coated or something.

I've checked eBay and there is currently a front set on there before anyone points me there but i have a few other things to sort out on my car first so I will have to let these go.

I've done a quick search through the forum and not found anything specific to this.

Anyway enough rambling my question is:

What other VAG cars use the same from and rear standard calipers so that i don't have to narrow my search down to just Ibiza's? For future references really... :D

thanks in advance

Im looking at doing mine sometime soon. Just out of interest what paint did you use and how much did it cost you.

I want to get a deep gloss finish with a red paint.

Have you got any pics?

My friend sprayed his calipers on his clio a pinky/red colour. Looks not bad, but I prefer your's Big lad because you've got them nice and shiny.

They look really good. I think ill buy some hammerite this weekend and wait for the good weather.

Im gonna paint them and leave it in the garage overnight to let the paint fully dry and harden.

How did you stop the paint getting onto the pads or rubber seals?

Good old newspaper and masking tape.

I taped a sheet between the disk and pad the covered the rubber seals in masking tape. Its also worth getting a small artists brush for the fiddly bits, you'll see what i mean when you do them.

Good stuff Hammerite

Anyone know which other VAG cars the rear calipers match?

Looks good.
But it is so easy to take the calipers off and pads out but still leave them connected and just hang them with a zip tie to the shock, just an idea for anyone going to try this.
Sorry can't help with your question :hide:
