Brake and suspension upgrades

Hi all,

I'd like to upgrade the general performance of my Altea XL which is currently standard, and have a couple of questions and wonder if you could give me a push in the right direction.

1. Can anyone tell me what diameter discs are fitted to the front and can I upgrade to 312mm discs using the standard calipers by fitting a new carrier and discs as in the conversions available for the Leon.
2. Can I fit uprated springs as in the sport model, where would I obtain these from, and are lowered as well as uprated( i.e stiffer springs available.

As far as i know they are all 288mm on Toledo and altea except for 1.6petrol. Call into dealer and get Altea or Toledo booklet and it tells all. Carriers needed as i gather and then can use existin callipers for 312mm discs along with new carriers.

or you can get the 312 calipers as well - they take bigger pads.
Some Alteas FRs and FSI are fitted with the 312mm
AudiTT caliper/discs are adirect swap.

That's great, thanks for that, I'll probably use the standard callipers as I feel that the standard brakes are slightly lacking, similar to the Leon Cupra Tdi that I had which suffered terribly in wet weather on the motorway, where if the brakes were not used for some time had no stoppping power at all until they had been applied really firmly to dry off the water build up. Very scary when you first encounter it.
What do you thionk about fitting stiffer/lower springs.
