BP Ultimate Diesel - Wallet Thief!

I thought i'd try a tank of BP Ultimate Diesel the other day as i'm striving for the ultimate mix for best MPG.

It cost me a bloody fortune (i've mentally blocked out the cost but it was way over £1 / litre) and it gave me back sod all. Might as well have used Sainsbury's "Taste the Difference" Vegetable Oil with a splash of Balsamic Vinegar to be honest.

Anyone found it to be a good fuel?

Think i'll stick to any old (non ultra-low sulphur) Diesel with a dash of Miller's in it in future. Far cheaper and with better results.

I always doubt the value of these premiums myself, I always use the standard bulk sold from Shell..

Though if you were wanting to test the fuel, Id give it a few tankfulls so the car clears itself from the 'old' fuel

I stuck with it after having my remap and I suppose it was about 5 tanks before I started to notice any difference.

Was getting around 55mpg before on an A road commute to work and can now hit 60mpg easily (how much of that increase is remap / fuel who knows!). It very much depends where and how I'm driving. I have a friend who has been using it and has seen no difference at all in a TDCi focus.

Seems expensive where you are, I pay less than £1 p/l in Brighton.

I'd stick with it for a few tanks and see how it goes.

I had this same problem on the mk1. Thought it was a big con until i reached 20k miles. After that you see the difference.

Shell fuel and millers power plus gives me massive increases in economy and performance. However I am getting more and more through mileage. I would struggle to get 52mpg when I got it at 54k on the clock and now can easily do 60mpg on the same journey at 78k!

I only use BP ultimate, if I use the ordinary stuff I can tell the difference straight away. You need to give it a couple of full tanks to clear the old fuel out as well as the all the muck the ordinary stuff leaves behind. A splash of millers on top of BP Ultimate for the win

I drove a courtesy car the other day same spec as mine. My car is a lot more responsive and faster. I put it down to fuel alone. MPG is also better. ...and after remap who knows

I used to have a hybrid turbo etc on my old ibiza 1.9 tdi, was running at 193 bhp and i usually used tesco fuel, i found this to make my engine produce quite alot of soot, so changed to Texaco normal fuel, and that stopped the soot and also increased the throttle responce and the MPG too.

The mrs used it in her Cupra 20vt aswell, and she usually uses Tesco ultimate what ever its called. She put the Texaco stuff in and she instantly noticed the difference even when using just the standard Texaco fuel and not the high octane stuff.

just but my millers in for the first time with a normal tank of bp fuel. Its £1.03 here where i am. Gan see what its like with normal fuel and then with ultimate also looking into a remap http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=121510

I did, and spent lots of money there, but belive me, there customer services and aftersales service really is second to none.Even with my problems i cant fault them.

I'm curious about your re-map on the 1.9 Tdi mate! Who did it for you and how did it/does it go?

I've got a Custom Code Phase 1 Remap and love it, Formula 1 in Brighton done it for me.

Custom Code remaps are less agressive than Revo remaps apparantly, but I like the power delivery of the CC, very smooth. There are plenty out there are all should offer you a trial / money back period if your not happy.

i am having a revo remap and the guy just said to me

"well we can do your car but not via obd serial map. However I have been promised some state of the art equipment for the day to remap your car via BDM which means we remove your ecu and open the box up BUT we dont touch or remove the chips" "final torque figure will be 405Nm up by 85Nm"

what does this mean? getting it done by ultra map and costing 250 quid as a group buy

That means you clutch is gonna say bye bye and slip its way into an early grave my son 405nm torque is around 300 lbft, and with the clutch tolerances designed to take 1.5 times the origonal limit is about 330nm torque max id imagine.
