Boot wont lock

Second post, second dig for info.......

Boot on the leon wont lock, either with the key or with the remote locking.

Any ideas? only had the car for 3 weeks.....

I'm guessing it shuts ok?
Do you get the boot open warning light on the dash?

boot shuts fine, no lights. just wont lock

When you press the keyfob button, do you hear the boot lock trying to engage or do something?

Possibly the solenoid?

Have a look at this thread.

Not the same issue but will give you an idea of what to check.
The only thing not shown is at the bottom the pics there is an electrical connection.

defo think its the solenoid, doesnt do anything, cant here the motor.

Take the trim off anyway and check the connector to the solenoid. Make sure it's connected and clean the contacts/WD40 etc..

If the solenoid had gone then surely you can still lock it with the key. The key manually move the top bar across the make contact with the handle point.

I'd investigate as I'd rather have the boot locked than left open all the time. At least see if you can lock it from the inside.

OK, because we bought the car from a SEAT dealer its got a 12 month warrenty (didnt pay for this cos i know that they are pants) so swmbo took it to the local dealer (not the one it was purchased from) and they have said that its the motor thats gone. So theve ordered another.

Still doesnt explain why it doesnt lock with the key mind, and she never asked them either.......

Booked in for Monday next, so problem should be finished with.

Funny thing is, the dealer i bought it from said that Leon's dont have boot issues, which is contrary to what this forum says. Still, its getting fixed.....
