is this likely to be same problen that can be solved like it can on earliar models of the ibiza or is it more complicated,i cant hear any kind of movement in the mechanism when i press the remote and the only way i can lock it is with the key manually

you are pressing the unlock button twice arent you?
on mine one click unlocks the driver door only and 2 unlocks everything
once my boot stopped unlocking completely - you could hear something but not the click of an unlock, and the handle seemed like it wasn't catching - but i managed to somehow get it back in place by jiggling the handle around whilst jiggling the key around in the boot lock!
maybe but ive read that the mk3 gets the same problem apparently the sellenoid valve gets stuck and that lubricating it with wd40 and puhing it in and out resolves the problem, could this be the same on the mk4
still have to check that it locks everytime when i lock the car, haven't got round to getting a price yet for the solenoid so would be interested to know how much one is if you find out.
sorry the title to this thread should read "boot wont lock with remote"sorry guys hope this makes a difference to the replys i get,im getting a bit worried now
hi guys, removed the screws from the plastic panel in the 3 locations but i couldnt pul the panel away as it seemed vey tight, there seems to be 4 plastic clips ataching it to the main part of the boot, should these just pull out with a lot of force,i was scared of damaging it
yep just a load of clips holding it on ^^^^^ if you read the ownersmanual there is a lot of stuff at he back about the locking system on the boot! you can code it to only unlock with the key or something like that!
Yes the servo is held to the back of the lock mechanism with a couple of plastic clips. The clips snapped on mine allowing the servo to slide away from the mechanism, although sometime s if the boot was slammed shut it would slide back into contact. A couple of cable ties keep it held in its correct postion and everything is fine now
my problem is i cant pull the plastic panel off the boot to luck at the mecchanism ,although ive taken out all 3 screws i feel like something is going to snap when i try to pull it off,is there a special technique for removing this covr or do i need to jut use brute force
