Hey,
Got a couple of questions I hope you kind members can answer :D

- When I lock my car up, I've found that you can still open the boot  The alarm goes off but you can open it nonetheless??

- When I put my foot down it sometimes doesn't respond straight away, and then after about a second it kicks in. I take it this is turbo lag? What's the best way to improve it?

Much appreciated!

My wee bros Ibiza used to do this, think your boot lock mechanism is broke mate, take off the panel in the bootlid and check everythin moves and ain't broke.

Prib not, how long is the delay, what revs does this happen, turbo lag is usually waiting on the turbo to pull the car trough the revs rather than hesitation usually pre 2.5k. The hesitation can be caused by anythin really, DV, Throttle Body Alignment, Learning ECU, the list goes on.
You got access to VAG-COM?

Yeh, not really the best thing to do. Try and stop the car from labouring too much.
Ideally be in the sweet spot rather than floor it and wait for the power.
But turbo lag will feel more like a flat powerless area of the rev range rather than hesitation.
What your getting sounds like your just off the power.

The boot lock has two modes depending on whether the lock is left with the slot in the vertical or horizontal pisition (using the key). One way the boot lock will operate with the central locking, the other it wont. Worth a try before you start pulling things to pieces!

So basically Hairy, you are advising me to lock the car manually and see if that works?

EDIT: Well I've tried locking the front driver door manually and that still doesn't help

Not the door lock, the boot lock. If it's currently left with the the slot vertical use the key to turn it horizontal, (or the other way round), remove the key and try the remote central locking again.

I've got the same problem with the boot lock - after locking with the plip the latch on the boot lid still releases whenever the lever is lifted.

The lock is vertical and will only turn 45 degrees in one direction (left), so can't lock it manually.
It's really annoying, as I regularly have to leave stuff in my boot.

Anyone any suggestions?
Cheers.

Update. Weirdly pressing the alarm button next to the driver's seat and then locking with the plip seemed to make the boot lock again. Maybe it was a coincidence. It didn't work the next time. :(

i had same problem and had to resort to locking and unlocking with key as it would open when locked with fob. Warranty claim for new boot lock/mechanism cured the problem- its quite common i was informed by dealer. Been fine since, beware the trim on tailgate is a pain to get off with those awful metal clips if you decide to look yourself.

Yeah, it's still under the one month warranty from dealer.

It won't lock with the key btw.
